1. What is Diaspora Insurance?

This is an online platform that a Zimbabwean national based in the diaspora can access to buy insurance and/or manage their Insurance policy for properties, vehicles and dependants in Zimbabwe.

2. Who qualifies to register?

A Zimbabwean national based in the diaspora, issued with a Zimbabwean ID or valid passport.

3. I do not have a Zimbabwean ID or Passport; how do I register?

You can engage our Insurance office via email on underwrittingteam@fbc.co.zw for assistance.

4. Do I need to be an FBC Bank account holder to purchase insurance cover?

No, you do not need to have an FBC bank account.

5. What do I need to purchase insurance?

Enter the KYC details below;

  • Full name
  • Identity number
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Contact number
  • Details of the property to be insured i.e. physical address, value or sum insured                               

Or

Details of the motor vehicle to be insured i.e. the registration number, vehicle type, insurance type and vehicle sum insured

Or

Details of the individuals to be included as dependants on the policy i.e. Full name as on I.D documents, Date of birth and the cover package

6. What is the benefit of Diaspora Insurance?

Peace of mind and convenience is guaranteed as you will be able to;

  • Make payments remotely without having to remit funds home that results in additional costs.
  • Track your payments as there is no need for a middleman to make payments on your behalf, ensuring that your policies do not lapse.
  • Track your claim status up to the point of settlement.
7. What is Hospital Cash Plan?
  • Hospital cash plan is a product that pays a cash payout for everyday spent in hospital in excess of 48 hours.
  • It’s a fairly priced cover and provides a tax-free benefit whenever the policyholder or dependents are hospitalized.
  • It can often be used as security for a loan, either from a micro-financier or another lender.
  • It offers peace of mind and guarantees protection of personal and family dignity.
  • Benefit is paid directly to the policyholder’s account giving them financial security should additional financial obligations arise.
  • There are various packages to select from as in the table below with their benefits;

8. How do I buy insurance on the platform?

  • Enter the required details to get quote i.e. first and last name, ID #, email address, contact number and date of birth
  • Select the insurance cover or package or policy you would like to purchase
  • Click the ‘Get quote’ button
  • Accept terms and conditions, see T & Cs and Terms of Use on website
  • Click proceed
  • Login to your diaspora insurance account
  • View or download your policy document download your policy

Please note insurance cover commences after successful payment of the premium.

9. What Insurance products are available?

10. What type of picture should I upload for the car that I want to insure?

You are required to upload a picture of all 4 angles of the motor vehicle being insured i.e. back, front and both sides.

11. How many beneficiaries can I add to my Hospital Cash Plan policy?

There is no limit as long as there is insurable interest.

12. What is the maximum and minimum age limit for my beneficiaries on Hospital Cash Plan?

  • Adult dependants – 18 years
  • Child -3 months
  • Principal Member: 64 years
  • Adult dependants – 64 years

 

Children shall be covered on the child rate until they turn 18 years after which they will be graduated to the adult rate.

13. How do I make a payment?

You can make payments online with a MasterCard or Visa card.

14. What payment frequency options do I have?

The following payment frequency options are available;

  • The termly option which covers 4 months
  • The quarterly option which covers 3 Months
  • The bi-annual option which covers 6 months
  • The yearly option which covers 12 months
15. How do I get my policy documents?

The policy document will be available for download on the platform after successful payment of the premium due.

16. How do I know the policies that I have paid for and when they expire?

Your insurance policy information and cover expiry dates will be displayed on the dashboard in your Diaspora insurance account and in the policy document.

17. Upon payment, where do I collect my license disc?

The disc can either be collected at the nearest FBC Insurance/ Zimpost office branch or send an email with a physical delivery address to underwrittingteam@fbc.co.zw to which we will deliver for free.

18. How do I make a claim?

You can complete and submit your claim in your diaspora policy under the claims menu option.
