Sustainability Agenda
- In line with the Bank's sustainability agenda, Crown Bank Zimbabwe has shifted from traditional philanthropy to ensuring that the Bank's core business contributes to addressing Zimbabwe's challenges.
- Crown Bank engages the community in various projects in support of young people. The Future makers by Crown global initiative to tackle inequality by promoting economic inclusion for disadvantaged young people across its markets, including those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic continues to deliver positive results in Zimbabwe
Community Activities:
The youth employability program being delivered by Enactus Zimbabwe with funding from the Crown Foundation, aims to support young people between 18 and 25 years who are struggling to find work or start a business in today’s challenging economic environment. The programme provides youths with employability and entrepreneurship skills training, as well as mentoring and business support. A total of 10 231 youths have benefitted to date (4 934 males, 5 297 females and 148 young people with disabilities)
The youth entrepreneurship program is run in partnership with Plan International where youths in selected areas are empowered to pursue decent work and viable entrepreneurial opportunities of their choice.
In partnership with Junior Achievement Zimbabwe, the Bank has continued to deliver Financial Education modules to youths between 13-25 years across Zimbabwe. An excess of 5,000 youths benefit from this program annually
Staff continue to participate in employee volunteering activities by assisting in the delivery of the financial education modules in schools across Zimbabwe. Under the Employee Volunteering initiative, the Bank has given each staff member 3 days over and above the normal leave entitlement per year to go out into the community and make a difference.
Education & Youth Empowerment
As part of the Employee Volunteering programme, the Bank’s Executive team has been delivering online mentorship sessions in partnership with Junior Achievement Zimbabwe to youths aged between 18-25 years across the country. Over 500 youths have been reached to date and the programme will continue for the rest of the year. Staff Volunteers are also delivering Financial Education modules to secondary school children from various schools across the country.
Environment
Under the Environment pillar, Crown Bank sponsors tree planting activities in the community as our way of contributing towards efforts to raise awareness on climate change. Staff members have planted over 500 trees this year at various sites.
