FBC Constructs a Classroom Block to Build a Science Laboratory at Gurungweni School in Chikombedzi
FBC constructed a modern classroom block at Gurungweni Primary School in Chikombedzi as part of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) initiatives. The block consist of two (2) classrooms. On average, one classroom can accommodate forty-five (45) learners. This implies that our donation will benefit at least Ninety (90) leaners in one year. In the next ten (10) years, Nine Hundred (900) learners will benefit from our small contribution towards giving back to the community.
The FBC Sponsored classroom block will benefit 40 villages and save learners (especially the girl child) from walking a minimum distance of 8km to access the nearest Secondary School.
FBC is committed to building communities, having established a strong tradition of giving back to the society. Consequently, the group proudly sponsored all the building material consisting of cement, asbestos sheets, roofing timber, window frames, door frames, brick force, doors, paint, window panes, among other crucial material for construction of the block as part of the Group’s continuous efforts towards giving back to the community in line with our vision; “To Nurture sustainable solutions that enable the financial well-being of the communities we serve”.
Education is the cornerstone of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives. In this regard, FBC pledged to construct a new Science Laboratory at Gurungweni Secondary School in Chiredzi as part of our sustainable efforts aimed at investing in education as a fundamental instrument for building young people who are the future leaders and innovators of the Chikombedzi community and the nation at large.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony of the classroom block, Roy Nyakunuwa(Head of FBCH Group Marketing) said, “The FBC Group adopted an Integrated Sustainability Approach which incorporates fundamental Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) aspects. Our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is informed by the evolving stakeholder and community based needs; as we endeavour to make significant contributions towards the achievement of national, regional and global priorities which include the seventeen (17) Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).”

FBC donates to Shungu Dzevana Children's Home
The FBC Holdings Group donated farming implements worth more than Forty Thousand United States Dollars (USD 40,000.00) to Shungu Dzevana Children’s Home as part of the entity’s impact-driven corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Shungu Dzevana Trust Children's Home is an exceptional orphanage led by the visionary Sister Mercy Mutyambizi. She has transformed the orphanage into an agricultural hub to sustain the philanthropic organisation’s operations and empower children with agribusiness skills. The Children’s Home has produced doctors, engineers, nurses, and chartered accountants among other professions.
In addition to the much-needed USD donation, The Group also committed to building a parking shade for the agricultural implements and pledged five thousand United States Dollars(USD 5,000.00) for the payment of the children’s school fees.
The farming implements consist of the following:
Brand new 75 Horsepower Tractor, 20 - disc Rhome Harrow, 4.8m Open Trailer, Grass cutter and three disc ploughs.
The donation was presented to Reverend Sister Mercy A. T. Mutyambizi (founder of Shungu Dzevana Children’s Home) at a colourful ceremony held at the orphanage in Mhondoro yesterday.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Roy Nyakunuwa (Head - FBC Group Marketing) highlighted the essence of building sustainable communities and emphasised the need for corporates to give back to the community. The Group’s donation to Shungu Dzevana was motivated by the recently adopted sustainability approach, FBCH Climate Positive Agenda, which promotes community resilience, self-reliance and sustainability through CSR initiatives.

Entembeni Old People's Home Donation
FBC donated groceries to Entembeni Old People’s Home in Bulawayo as part of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) initiatives.As a community and stakeholder driven home-grown financial services institution, the group is fully committed towards the realisation of the FBC Group’s corporate vision which is to ‘Nurture sustainable solutions that enable the financial well-being of the communities we serve’. FBC to Plant 4000 Trees as part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations
The FBC Holdings Group is embarking on a nationwide Tree Planting Program as part of the institution’s sustainability efforts aimed at promoting Environmental Protection and Climate Resilience. The group will plant four thousand (4000) trees at FBC premises and country-wide learning institutions.
As part of this initiative, FBC has embarked on the “Trees for Food” initiative in partnership with various schools around the country. In this vein, all country branches are participating in the FBCH Group initiative to donate fruit trees that will be planted and maintained at schools’ premises.
The month of December is recognised as the National Tree Planting month and the National Tree planting Day is commemorated every year on the first Saturday of December in order to motivate Zimbabwean citizens to plant and conserve trees, enhance biodiversity and household food security. This year’s theme is ‘Trees and Forestry for Ecosystem Restoration and Improved Livelihoods”
Speaking at the official launch event for the FBC 2022 Tree Planting initiative, Roy Nyakunuwa(Head of FBCH Group Marketing) said, “The 2022 FBCH Tree Planting Day falls on the first Saturday of December. This coincides with the FBC Bank 25th Anniversary year and as such, the tree planting is a key celebration of the bank’s existence and commitment to enable the well- being of the communities that we serve.”
“The 2022 FBCH tree planting initiative will be an all-inclusive initiative, roping in everyone from across the FBC Group. The Sustainability Standards and Certification Initiative (SSCI) recommends organisational leadership to lead from the front in providing ecosystem services. In this regard, FBCH executives and senior managers have been an integral part of this year’s noble initiative in order to demonstrate top management awareness of climate change issues and commitment to being part of the solution,” he added.

FBC Honours Its Pledge to Reconstruct Classroom Blocks in Chimanimani
Zimbabwe’s leading financial services powerhouse and socially responsible corporate citizen (FBC Holdings) donated building material for the re-construction of classroom blocks destroyed by Cyclone Idai at Charleswood Primary School in Chimanimani. The building material , which consist of cement, asbestos sheets, roofing timber, window frames, door frames, brick force, doors, paint, window panes, among other crucial material, have since been delivered to the school early this month in order to pave way for the speedy construction of four modern classrooms.
FBC Bank sponsored the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Schools Secretary Merit Awards which saw several high performing schools receiving prizes in the form of e-learning classroom equipment of teachers’ laptops , children’s laptops, interactive classroom boards, projectors and.

FBC Donates Towards Cyclone Idai
Zimbabwe’s leading diversified financial services powerhouse, FBC Holdings has donated twenty (20) tonnes of groceries worth more than RTGS$60,000.00 for assisting people affected by Cyclone Idai as part of the group’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and a call to assist victims during this time of a national disaster. The groceries consist of mealie-meal, kapenta , sugar beans, cooking oil and fine salt. The group also donated one thousand (1000) litres of fuel in order to ease transport logistics for Cyclone Idai relief activities. It has also pledged to construct classroom blocks and finance the education of children who lost their parents and guardians due to the tropical cyclone.
The FBC Holdings Group is committed towards giving back to the community and investing in humanitarian initiatives for assisting communities in need of help. Roy Nyakunuwa (Acting Head –FBC Group Marketing) said, “We (as the FBC Group) note with sadness the tragedy that befell our fellow countrymen in the Manicaland Province, particularly Chimanimani, parts of Chipinge and Masvingo Province. Precious lives were lost; homes, schools, businesses, hospitals and police stations have been destroyed. Roads have been washed away and a considerable number of people are stranded because of the heavy flooding. As a responsible corporate citizen, we felt obliged to play our small part towards assisting families affected by the tropical storm. We mourn with the nation and those relatives who lost their loved ones. May the souls of all the deceased rest in eternal peace.”

FBC Donates 10 000 Covid-19 Diagnostic Test Kits

FBC Holdings (Zimbabwe’s leading financial services institution and responsible corporate citizen) has demonstrated its commitment towards containing the spread of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe.The Group proudly donated Ten Thousand (10 000) Coronavirus test kits in the interest of public health.
The donation was presented to the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency, President ED Mnangagwa and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Child Care recently. A total of Five Thousand (5,000) test kits were allocated to the Office of President and Cabinet, Three Thousand (3000) to PSMI and the other Two Thousand (2000) were equitably distributed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital and Bulawayo City Council.
Speaking at the handover ceremony for the donation, Herbert Nkala (FBC Group Chairman) said, “We believe the best way to defeat this pandemic is by first understanding the extend of the problem and that can only be done through testing of our people. As FBC, we imported 10 00 Diagonistic test kits which we are proud to donate”.
“It is our belief that the kits will assist on detection of people exposed to the virus, leading to the implementation of the necessary health measures to contain transmission of the same. As a responsible corporate citizen, our primary concern remains the health of the nation. As such, we are here to affirm our commitment towards preventing the spread of Covid-19 in our country. We have seen it fit to play a small part towards responding to the national disaster,” added Mr Nkala.
In his address, Herbert Nkala (FBCH Group Chairman) also expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders who are working tirelessly to contain the spread of Coronavirus. “Our appreciation goes to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, all front-line health care givers and everyone who is playing a key role in the fight to stop the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
